Title:
Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic
/
Shop Mechanic/Technician
– Heavy Equipment Salary: $25 - $40 per hour (posted as salary range). Job is full-time with potential evening and weekend work as duties demand. Responsibilities
Perform skilled repair and maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks used by the company, including pavers, rollers, milling machines, dump trucks, water trucks, boot trucks, front-end loaders, scrapers, skid steers, skip loaders and motor graders. This includes work on fluids, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, clutches, filters, oil, and lubrication; and maintaining other fleet vehicles as needed. Diagnose, service, and repair using electronic scan tools; respond to supervisor requests; prepare and close out work orders; relay work orders to fleet administration and/or supervisor. Attend and participate in safety meetings (daily PTP and weekly Tailgate Topics) and Company training; maintain a clean and safe work environment; secure and organize tools, equipment, and work areas. May order fuel, parts, tools, and supplies; perform duties with Sunland’s Core Values in mind. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures; act as a safety ambassador and comply with federal, state, and local laws and Company safety policy. Other duties as assigned. Safety-sensitive position; subject to company drug and alcohol policy and OSHA regulations. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required. Acts as a safety ambassador by enforcing safe practices and addressing hazards. Physical Demands & Work Environment
Work at professional construction sites or shop environments; ability to read materials, signs, screens; lift and handle up to 50 pounds; climb stairs/ladders; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; operate vehicles and equipment on site; work outside in all weather conditions. Occasional travel to job sites; operate vehicles, trailers, equipment and tools per safety guidelines. Exposure to chemicals, vapors, dust, noise, and other hazards typical of construction environments. Position Type / Hours
Full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Travel
Must be willing to travel to all job sites as needed; staying away from home if necessary. Minimum Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
High school diploma or GED preferred. 2–3 years heavy equipment maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Scan tool experience is a plus. Must be fluent in English (speak, read, and write). Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
Valid driver’s license and clean motor-vehicle record. Pre-employment drug test and background check required. Basic tool set for preventive maintenance. AAP/EEO Statement
