Overview

Shop Mechanic/Technician - Heavy Equipment - Fleet at Sunland Asphalt & Construction, LLC. The Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic performs skilled tasks in the repair of all fleet vehicles, machinery, motors, tools, and equipment used by the company. Responsibilities

Perform and prioritize repairs and/or maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks (e.g., pavers, rollers, milling machines, dump trucks, water trucks, front-end loaders, scrapers, skid steers, etc.) including fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, clutches, filters, oil, and lubrication. May also maintain other fleet vehicles. Respond to requests from supervisors to complete repairs and maintenance, prepare and close out work orders, and relay information to fleet administration and/or supervisor. Diagnose, service and repair trucks/equipment using electronic scan tools. Conduct Safety Meetings (daily PTP and weekly Tailgate Topics) and participate in jobsite safety meetings and company training. Work with shop team to maintain a clean and safe work environment; keep tools, equipment, and work areas secured and organized. May order fuel, parts, tools, and supplies. Other duties as assigned; duties may change at any time with or without notice. Supervisory Responsibilities

Safety-sensitive position; subject to drug and alcohol policy and OSHA regulations. Must wear appropriate PPE and comply with safety policies. Actively identifies and remedies worksite hazards and enforces safe work practices. Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work in construction field sites and shop environments; lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds; climb stairs/ladders; operate vehicles and equipment; work outdoors in all weather; possible exposure to chemicals, vapors, noise, dust, and other hazards. Position Type/Hours

Full-time; occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Travel

Willingness to travel to all job sites; may require staying away from home. Minimum Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred. 2–3 years heavy equipment maintenance experience or equivalent. Scan tool experience is a plus. Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing). Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

Valid driver’s license with clean motor-vehicle record. Pre-employment drug screen and background check required. Basic tool set for preventative maintenance. AAP/EEO Statement
