Job Title:
Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Weitsman Recycling seeks a skilled experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will maintain troubleshoot and repair various heavy machinery and equipment used in our recycling operations. This position requires a strong understanding of diesel engines hydraulic systems and electrical components as well as the ability to work independently and efficiently to ensure continuous equipment operation. Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance tasks on heavy equipment including loaders, skid steer and material handlers
Diagnose mechanical hydraulic and electrical issues and develop effective repair solutions to minimize downtime and maximize equipment uptime
Conduct thorough inspections and tests to identify potential problems and perform necessary repairs or replacements of defective parts
Overhaul and rebuild engines transmissions and hydraulic systems as needed to maintain optimal performance and reliability
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities including work orders parts inventory and equipment history
Collaborate with other team members to prioritize repair and maintenance tasks based on operational needs and deadlines
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues
Stay updated on industry developments and technological advancements in heavy equipment maintenance to implement best practices and improve efficiency
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent vocational training or certification in heavy equipment mechanics or a related field is preferred
Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic preferably in a recycling or construction environment
Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines hydraulic systems and electrical components
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals schematics and blueprints
Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail
Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed
