Diesel Technician/Mechanic III - Entry Level
Location: 203 Brewer Rd, Danville, IL 61834 Pay: $22.75/hr. 2nd shift ($2.50/hr) and 3rd shift ($3.50/hr) come with shift premiums on top of base pay. What’s the Job? Maintain vehicles and ensure safety for customers Use Penske’s tools to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics Perform preventative maintenance (e.g., tire replacement/rotation, lubrication, component replacement) and basic electrical and cooling system work on gas and diesel engines Collaborate with your manager to learn new skills through Penske’s technician training and coaching Assist with other projects as assigned Why Penske is for You (Benefits)

High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/technical certification in vehicle repair preferred Basic mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred) Valid driver’s license Problem-solving ability and comfort with tools Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to work well in a team and outdoors Basic computer skills Ability to understand and follow Penske instructions, guidelines, and safety policies Adherence to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies; proper use of tools, PPE, and safety practices Regular, predictable attendance Because this role involves driving Penske and customer vehicles, a current driver qualification file is required (annual MVR check, DOT Physical, and Safety History records from prior 3 years). CDL holders will have a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and FMCSA Clearinghouse review Willingness to work the required schedule, be located at the specified site, complete Penske employment steps, and potential travel for training This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive by the company.
