Layton City . GENERAL PURPOSE Performs a variety of
working level semi-skilled duties
related to the construction, installation, maintenance, upkeep, and repair of City buildings, swimming pools, recreation facilities, parks, grounds, and the environment. Essential Functions Promotes and follows the City's mission statement, values, and expectations. Performs routine building maintenance; assists in constructing and maintaining bowerys, small buildings, and storage facilities; ensures proper operation of lighting fixtures, doors, windows, and plumbing; performs concrete and masonry work; maintains playground equipment. Assists in installing sprinkler systems; selects line sizes, spacing, and control equipment; installs, tests, and maintains systems using low voltage, hydraulic, or other features. Operates lawn equipment; mows and trims grass, bushes, and shrubs; assists in pruning; removes dead or diseased trees; promotes healthy plant growth through pruning and cutting. Performs landscape and gardening duties; plants and transplants trees, shrubs, flowers; fertilizes using various techniques. Operates small light equipment such as mowers, sod cutters, chain saws, backhoe, loaders, trenchers, aeration tractor, and hand tools. Prepares ball diamonds; maintains lawns; performs seasonal duties like winterizing sprinkler systems, snow removal, and water line winterization. Performs general cleanup and maintenance of facilities such as restrooms, pavilions, playgrounds, and ball fields. Performs related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Sufficient education and experience demonstrating aptitude for duties. No experience necessary. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Some knowledge of maintenance equipment and safety precautions. Semi-skilled in operating light equipment. Ability to apply chemicals safely, perform semi-skilled building maintenance, communicate effectively, and develop working relationships. Special Qualifications: Must possess or obtain a valid Utah driver’s license. Must be 17 years or older for driving purposes.
