The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a

Transportation Planning Engineer

who is looking for an opportunity to assume a

Project Manager

role and meaningfully contribute to a team that works on a broad variety of transportation planning and engineering projects across Canada.

The Transportation Planning group offers planning and engineering services for the full spectrum of transportation challenges. These include but are not limited to:

Active Transportation Infrastructure Planning

Functional and Detailed Design

Road safety

Traffic analysis

Regional and area transportation studies

Site‑specific transportation assessments

Design guidelines and innovative design solutions/research

Transportation demand management (TDM)

Public engagement

Transit planning

Parking studies

This position is on‑site in Winnipeg and is not remote. We welcome applications from candidates across Canada and the United States and offer relocation assistance.

What You Can Expect To Do Here:

Collaborate with your colleagues on exciting projects and opportunities, from data collection and analysis to reporting and supporting your team on a variety of in‑field and in‑office technical tasks.

Apply best practices and identify innovative solutions in active transportation master planning and design assignments, engineering analyses and studies as required for the planning, design and implementation of multi‑modal transportation, transit and traffic projects.

Develop progressive experience in project management and coordination.

Work with a multi‑disciplinary team including transportation/traffic engineers, planners, designers, and landscape architects.

Prepare and/or oversee technical memos and reports to communicate technical results and recommendations.

Attend and participate at client and public meetings.

What You’ll Bring To WSP:

A passion and/or professional interest in transportation and contributing to the planning and design of multi‑modal solutions.

Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Transportation Engineering.

P. Eng License.

5‑8 or more years’ experience in the transportation engineering and planning field with experience in transportation impact assessments, active transportation infrastructure design and/or project management and senior engineering responsibilities.

Able to demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office.

Experience in traffic operations and site analysis.

Experience in transportation software and methods (e.g. Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, Sidra, VISSIM, VISTRO, Aimsun).

Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment with an interest in growing professionally and learning.

Project management, leadership, communication, and customer relationship skills.

Compensation:

WSP Benefits: WSP Canada provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career. These benefits may include coverage related to medical, dental, vision, disability, and life; retirement savings; paid sick leave; paid vacation (or other personal time); paid parental leave; and paid time off for purposes of bereavement, voting, and/or attendance at naturalization proceedings.

Salary Range (CAD) $96,200 – 132,200

WSP Canada reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range and to offer additional benefits depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other protected status.
