Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS BY LEVEL:
NETWORK ENGINEER III
Monitors network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options. Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network.
Performs cost/benefit studies of network configurations and recommends enhancements
Directs the acquisition, installation and testing of network hardware
Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations and limitations
Isolates, resolves or circumvents network problems
Instructs operations personnel on use of new equipment
Initiates and coordinates repair of vendor-owned equipment
Maintains contact with vendors during problem restoration and advises customer and management of restoration status
May supervise lower level staff if required
Performs other related duties as assigned
This position is the Tier III Remediation focus of Unified Communications centric network related issues across the Enterprise.
This position requires a good working knowledge of Netflow analysis, packet analysis, cloud and hybrid cloud technologies, Instant Messaging, switching, routing, firewall, wan balancers, traffic optimization, quality of service (QoS), Voice and Video transmission metrics, streaming technology, Cisco unified communications (UCS) configurations and operations, and UC applications - to include WebEx, Avaya Communicator, Skype/Teams and associated unified communications protocols.
Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experience; Equivalency can mean one additional year of experience (including military) for every year required of education.
This position currently has skillset equivalence to Cisco CCNP Routing and Switching certification, and a minimum of 7 years of experience working within the IT field - with a strong focus in UC support systems and inherent delivery & operational mechanisms.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED BY LEVEL:
4 - 9 Years
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
This position currently has skillset equivalence to Cisco CCNP Routing and Switching certification, and a minimum of 7 years of experience working within the IT field - with a strong focus in UC support systems and inherent delivery & operational mechanisms.
Skillsets used to accomplish this function: This position requires a good working knowledge of Netflow analysis, packet analysis, cloud and hybrid cloud technologies, Instant Messaging, switching, routing, firewall, wan balancers, traffic optimization, quality of service (QoS), Voice and Video transmission metrics, streaming technology, Cisco unified communications (UCS) configurations and operations, and UC applications - to include WebEx, Avaya Communicator, Skype, and associated unified communications protocols. The ability to use and interpreting access control lists and Netflow collections from CIS tools is required. The ability to create, maintain and make recommended changes to test plans and troubleshooting processes. Create, update and review all technical documentation, build guides, logical and physical topology drawings for accuracy, making updates and corrections as necessary.
