Recreation & Parks - Ice Arena Operations Coordinator The Township of East Brunswick is accepting applications for a full-time Ice Arena Operations Coordinator within the Department of Recreation & Parks. This position will be responsible for maintaining the equipment, cleanliness, and appearance of the arena and grounds. Additionally, this role promotes quality, customer-friendly facilities while recognizing the importance of safety and efficiency. Essential functions include:

Ensuring the ice and building are maintained in excellent working order.

Coordinating with staff to keep arena ice in first-rate condition.

Maintaining personal safety and the safety of those you coordinate, and others affected by your work and rink conditions.

Purchasing and maintaining inventory to ensure all working equipment and tools necessary to fulfill ice maintenance are readily available.

Maintaining records of ice thickness, ice temperatures, humidity, ambient air, and dew point readings.

Working with vendors/contractors in the maintenance of ice, ice chillers, and building maintenance.

Cleaning all areas of interior/exterior of building daily.

Setting up and disassembling hockey glass and dasher boards as needed.

Creating and implementing ice maintenance training programs for staff.

Delivering prompt and professional solutions to both external and internal customer inquiries through face-to-face, phone, and email interactions.

Serving as General Manager when the Manager is off duty.

Other duties as assigned by General Manager.

This position requires a flexible work schedule which will include mornings, nights, weekends and holidays when needed. Responsible for potential ‘callouts’ when required.

Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: A strong mechanical knowledge of refrigeration, Zamboni, and HVAC. Ability to operate and maintain ice resurfacing machines, ice edger, and all related equipment required for the maintenance of the quality sheets of ice. Plan, organize, coordinate and supervise. Perform with minimal supervision. Assist the public in a courteous and effective manner. EXPERIENCE WITH: Ice resurface operations, ice chiller equipment and building maintenance. Building repair, maintenance, HVAC, including knowledge of plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs. Facility/arena operations and the potential for large public gatherings. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University with a major in Recreation/Sports Management, Education or Public Administration is preferred but not required.

Special Requirements LICENSING & CERTIFICATION: Valid NJ driver’s license. Certified Ice Rink Technician Certifications through the US Ice Rink Association and/or ability to obtain. Certified Ice Rink Administrator/Manager through the US Ice Rink Association and/or ability to obtain. Membership in the New Jersey Recreation and Parks Association and the Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) Certification is preferred. Certification in Standard First Aid/CPR/AED is preferred.
