Overview
Clinical assignment at a teaching hospital with 2 years of experience preferred. The facility details include a Level 1 Trauma designation, Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center, and 885 licensed beds located at 1 Medical Center Blvd, Winston-Salem, NC 27157. This position requires travel within the cancer center and med-surg units as applicable. Responsibilities
RN responsibilities in a high-acuity environment with daily patient care duties. Support within the Department: CNA patient rounds (every 4 hours) including VS, drain collections, blood sugars, and daily cares; assist with weights, baths, linen changes, meals, and ambulation. Phlebotomy rounds; assist with STAT and timed labs as needed; coordination with the VARs Team for IV access when available. Central telemetry monitoring; 24/7 RT coverage; resident or assigned provider on-site 24/7. Ventilation and chest tube care; central line maintenance; wound care and dressing changes; infusion support (PCA, Epidurals). Use of EMR (Epic); IV pumps (Alaris); medication dispensing (Omnicell); patient monitoring with Philips/Visi systems. Coordinate with float staff within the cancer center and other med-surg units as needed; participate in unit leadership rounds. Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) with active licensure; required certifications include BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team Requirement). Minimum 2 years of clinical experience; preference for travelers with oncology or high-acuity experience. Skills: Trach/Laryngeal care, management of surgical drains (JP, Hemovac, CT, Foley, Ostomy, Urostomy), wound vacs, dressing changes. Ability to perform patient rounds, dressing changes, wound care, and assist with ambulation and activities of daily living. Schedule and Assignments
Weekend rotation: every other weekend; no on-call requirement; 75% holiday work requirement. Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks; RTO up to 7 days with contract extension as needed. Orientation: facility and unit orientation (2 days departmental; Neonatal ICU orientation listed). Facility & Unit Details
