FMC has an immediate opening in the Discovery Chemistry Group for a motivated
Associate Chemist
at Stine Research Center in Newark, DE. The Discovery Chemistry organization employs synthetic organic chemists to design and synthesize new high-performance crop protection molecules that may lead to new commercial products. We are seeking applicants with expertise in synthetic organic chemistry. Candidates will have a strong background in laboratory-based work with a solid knowledge of separation techniques and spectroscopic identification approaches. The successful candidate will work independently and under the supervision of a Principal Investigator on projects related to the discovery, optimization, and characterization of safe and sustainable new technologies for global agriculture.
Basic Qualifications
Strong knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry Exceptional laboratory skills including expertise in modern separation methods (e.g. MPLC, HPLC) and characterization techniques (e.g. NMR, MS/MS, LC/MS, GC/MS & IR) for the synthesis of complex targets Ability to carry out multi-step synthetic sequences to deliver analytically pure material for biological testing Ability to collaborate effectively and work in teams of scientists, including working closely with a Principal Investigator
Required Education
BS or MS in Chemistry or related field with a strong background in organic synthesis is required. Further industrial work experience is desirable
