Organic Chemist II role at Battelle located in Columbus, Ohio. Responsibilities
Design and develop practical synthesis routes to target compounds Execute the synthesis, purification, and characterization of target compounds efficiently Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook according to corporate standards and SOPs Work closely with all members of the synthesis team Provide technical input for reports Manage time effectively Other duties as assigned Key Qualifications
Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry with 5 years of laboratory experience or a PhD in Organic Chemistry Demonstrated experience in the synthesis, purification, and characterization of small molecules Familiarity with common analytical equipment used for characterization of small molecules including GC, GC-MS, LC, LC-MS, and NMR The ability to work in a team environment Excellent oral and written communication skills Familiarity with MS Office A commitment to continuous learning and a demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with rapidly-changing priorities Incumbent must successfully pass medical screening, including the ability to wear PPE and work with highly hazardous materials Sole US citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as a condition of employment Preferred Qualifications
Experience in pharmaceutical product synthesis and/or production Experience with phosphorus chemistry Proposal writing experience Experience with synthesis of peptides and peptide adducts Experience with prep scale liquid chromatography Previous research experience related to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and/or explosive (CBRNE) threats Experience working with toxic chemicals Experience operating in an ISO environment Benefits
