The Mission of the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is to create a model correctional system that provides equitable access to programming and opportunities that reflect community experience, foster connections, and restore victims of crime. Clinicians with the Idaho Department of Correction work inside correctional institutions/prisons and Probation and Parole District Offices around the state. These positions perform assessments, program assignments, and treatment referrals for residents convicted of a felony. This announcement will be used for the North Idaho Correctional Institution (NICI), Cottonwood, ID. Applications will be accepted through 4:59 PM MST on the posting end date. Responsibilities
Apply clinical skills to assess resident mental health needs; develop and implement a treatment plan and therapeutic recommendations. Prepare findings, diagnostic impressions, diagnosis, and recommendations for Idaho Parole Board as directed/needed. Perform comprehensive suicide risk assessments, systematically evaluating residents for suicidal ideation and underlying mental health concerns. Design, implement, and direct multifaceted clinical therapies and rehabilitation programs. Evaluate treatment effectiveness and outcomes. Provide emergency, crisis intervention, and after-hour on-call services. Advocate for IDOC residents’ mental health needs. Present assessment results to multidisciplinary team; participate in treatment planning. Coordinate mental health services with other IDOC providers to ensure integrated and effective care. Coordinate program with other service providers within IDOC. Facilitate psychoeducational and process groups to IDOC residents. May participate in research projects. Other duties as assigned by overseeing clinical supervisor. Minimum Qualifications
A master’s degree (or higher) in a direct clinical practice Human Services field is required (master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation counseling, psychiatric nursing, or a closely related field of study). Willing to work in a correctional facility and may include working non‑traditional hours during evenings and/or weekends. Specialty Qualifications
Must possess a current Idaho license as a Licensed Master’s Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, or be eligible within 90 days from the date of hire. Application Requirements
