ERM is hiring Field Biologists Conduct surveys and monitoring for large construction projects in Fresno/Tulare, California. This full‑time, limited‑term role is for 12 months with possible extension. Successful candidates must be flexible and responsive to a changing work environment where schedules, site locations, and tasks fluctuate.
Responsibilities
Conduct pre‑construction surveys across the client’s project area.
Work independently in remote locations.
Collect electronic data and sub‑meter accurate GPS data.
Compile daily reports and survey reports.
Other duties as assigned or required.
Comply with ERM’s rigorous safety program.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or related discipline preferred.
Minimum 2 years of Field Biology with experience in vegetation ecology, rare plant identification, or botany.
Experience with Fisher (site mapping) is a plus.
Experience with wildlife exclusion fences, environmentally sensitive areas, and wildlife exclusion zones is a plus.
Familiarity with nesting bird survey protocols and general bird identification is a plus.
Experience with San Joaquin Kit Fox, California Tiger Salamander, or Swainson’s hawk is a plus.
Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather and challenging terrain.
Working knowledge of sub‑meter GPS technologies and map interpretation.
Strong attention to detail and documentation.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Willingness for extended field work and positive attitude.
Ability to travel with overnight stays possible.
Flexible availability for weekends, holidays, and evenings.
Independent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
Fluency in English and Spanish highly preferred.
Pay Transparency Annual base pay range: $74,825 – $96,901 (about $35.97 – $46.58 per hour). The range varies based on education, experience, performance, travel, and other factors. This position is non‑exempt.
Benefits Eligibility Benefits are available to regular employees scheduled for 20+ hours per week and to fixed‑term employees meeting the same threshold. Casual employees are not benefits eligible.
