Overview
The School of Nursing, within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina A&T State University, is seeking an assistant/associate professor whose teaching and scholarly research agenda is focused on Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing. The primary purpose of this role is to provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Faculty in this role will provide student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, and engagement in program assessment accreditation-related procedures. The ideal candidate will be expected to: (i) incorporate modern pedagogical skills in teaching nursing courses to undergraduate and graduate courses in psychiatric mental health nursing, (ii) supervise and support student projects for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, and (iii) provide service to the SON, the college and university as well as to appropriate community and professional organizations. This is a 12-month, non-tenure-track position. Candidate must hold a doctoral degree in nursing and demonstrate pedagogical skills to teach in areas relevant to PMHNP. Candidate must hold a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina or have eligibility to obtain a North Carolina Registered Nurse License and must hold a national certification of APRN as Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Responsibilities
Provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction for undergraduate and graduate courses in psychiatric mental health nursing. Provide student advising, mentoring, and recruitment activities. Engage in curriculum development and program assessment and accreditation-related procedures. Supervise and support student projects for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. Fulfill service commitments to the School of Nursing, the college and university, and relevant community and professional organizations. Maintain professional development and scholarly activities aligned with the PMHNP focus. Qualifications
Doctoral degree in nursing. Pedagogical skills to teach in areas relevant to PMHNP. Current unrestricted RN license in North Carolina or eligibility to obtain one. National certification as Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Preferred: prior teaching experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing programs; three years of clinical PMH nursing experience; Nurse Educator Certification; proficiency with Blackboard LMS, Banner INB, and Microsoft Office; commitment to inclusiveness, collaboration, and diversity.
