Position Overview
The primary purpose of this role is to provide student centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate level courses. Faculty in this role will provide student advising, student mentoring, recruitment, curriculum development and conduct scholarly activities. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging in accreditation procedures, program assessment and service to the School, College, and University as needed. This is a 12-month, non-tenure track position.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina A&T State University is a public land grant high research institution that is committed to teaching and learning, scholarly and creative research, and effective engagement and public service. As the largest HBCU in the nation, our enrollment is over 13,487 students and our workforce includes over 2,000 employees. North Carolina A&T State University offers over 90 degree programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels through eight academic colleges. The University is one of the sixteen constituent units of the University of North Carolina (UNC) and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The strategic vision, preeminence 2023, focuses the University on interdisciplinary scholarly activities in a learner-centered environment.
The John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences (HCHHS) comprises six departments and the School of Nursing. The HCHHS offers undergraduate programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Services Management, Kinesiology, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology. Graduate programs include PA, MSW, Health Psychology, and PhD in Social Work, with additional doctoral programs being developed. The HCHHS hosts CIHDER, a hub for multidisciplinary research and community engagement to alleviate health inequities. The School of Nursing focuses on nursing education across tracks: traditional BSN, Accelerated BSN, and RN to BSN, and is expanding with a Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
Minimum Requirements
A minimum of a Master's Degree in nursing is required to be hired as a Lecturer.
A minimum of a PhD in nursing or DNP are required to be hired as a Clinical Assistant Professor.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Prior teaching experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing programs. Able to be credentialed to meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing's educational requirement.
Three years clinical experience related to concepts and theories essential in providing nursing care to psychiatric clients.
Nurse Education Certification
Required License or Certification
Must hold a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina or have eligibility to obtain North Carolina Registered Nurse License. If candidate is an Advanced Practice Nurse, must hold national certification.
Remote/Hybrid Work
On-site (Employees are primarily in the office and/or have a critical job requirement that requires dedicated office space on-site).
