The Medical Assistant assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider. Manage check-in and registration, interview patients, measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height), and record information on patient charts. May be required to draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients. Conduct patient registration, secure required paperwork and insurance documentation, verify insurance and patient eligibility. Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments for the assigned center. Coordinate provider referrals to assigned specialists and answer patient questions regarding their care. Inform technical staff of patient flow and ensure reception is well maintained. Prepare patients for examination, verify patient information, and record medical history; confirm purpose of visit. Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) and escalate critical cases to the provider as needed. Conduct point-of-care testing as needed (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide patient information to the provider. Stock supplies, maintain exam rooms, front desk, and reception area; ensure providers have necessary medical supplies. Maintain supply inventory levels and check expiration dates; manage medical records and scanning of charts. Answer phone calls and manage daily postal correspondence; perform opening and closing duties including cashing out and end-of-day communication. Follow operating instructions to perform daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain QA/QC logs and submit repair tickets as needed. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma required; Medical Assisting Program preferred. Work Experience: Medical Assistant experience preferred; Front Desk experience preferred. Licenses and Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire (ARC or AHA). One of the following certifications required at the time of hire: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA. In lieu of an approved MA Certification, the following are accepted at time of hire: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing or LPN/RN, EMT, CNA. Essential Functions

Detail oriented with the ability to rely on experience and judgment to accomplish tasks and work within a team. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
