We invite applications for multiple tenure-track/tenured faculty positions at all ranks (assistant, associate, or full professor) to join Intelligent Systems Engineering or other departments such as Computer Science and Informatics within the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. Bloomington, Indiana Position Summary

IUB is engaging in a multi-year initiative to broaden its biomedical engineering faculty. We welcome candidates specializing in experimental, translational, computational, and/or AI research who develop engineering systems, technologies, and platforms. Compensation and appointment status are tenure-track/tenured at full-time 10-month appointments with a preferred start date of August 1, 2026. Areas of Interest

Imaging and Biomedical Devices: advanced biomedical imaging technologies; neuroimaging, optical imaging; ultrasonic imaging; multimodal and hybrid imaging systems; wearable physiological sensors; point-of-care diagnostic devices; biosensors for disease detection; portable and miniaturized diagnostic platforms; microfluidic-based biosensing systems; image-guided intervention systems; digital healthcare systems; real-time physiological monitoring technologies; multimodal data integration and analysis for imaging and sensing. Human Centered Models and Systems: human stem cell–derived organoids; patient–derived organoids; organ-on-chip platforms; microphysiological systems; 3D bioprinting of tissues and organs; integrated multi-organ models; high-content functional screening systems; biomedical digital twins; computational modeling of living systems; AI-driven physiological and pathological modeling; high-performance computing for biological simulations; multimodal data integration and analysis; NAMs. Precision Medicine and Biomedical Data: spatial transcriptomics and spatial omics integration; CRISPR and gene editing; epigenetic profiling; biomarker discovery and validation; personalized therapeutic design; clinical decision support systems; longitudinal health data integration; genomic and multi-omics data analysis; AI for precision diagnostics; predictive modeling of treatment outcomes; biomedical big data analytics; real-time health monitoring and data streaming; privacy-preserving health data sharing. Candidates should complement Indiana University’s strengths and new initiatives, including synthetic biology, chemical biology, biohealth informatics, robotics, nanoengineering & microelectronics, and toxicology. Research Excellence: Develop and maintain a well-recognized research program, secure external funding, lead cutting-edge work as a principal investigator, and collaborate effectively with others. Teaching and Mentorship: Teach and mentor undergraduates and graduates, expanding educational opportunities. Service and Engagement: Contribute to the department, school, and university through service and community engagement. These positions are based on the IUB campus in Bloomington. On-campus work is expected to fully engage with the department, school, campus, and community. IU evaluates tenure and promotion based on performance in research, teaching, and service. All hires under this initiative are expected to excel in research and demonstrate strong teaching and service.
