Controls Engineer/Technician
to join the team. As the sole Controls Engineer/Technician on site, the ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of control systems for industrial automation in a food manufacturing facility. Key Responsibilities: Design, program, and implement control systems for automated processes utilizing PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, SCADA, and other standard devices/systems used in process automation Troubleshoot and repair control systems, electrical components, and related hardware. Assist other Electrical and Maintenance Personnel in troubleshooting via the PLC and SCADA system Collaborate with the process engineer to develop, test, and deploy system upgrades and improvements. Provide technical support and training to production teams on control systems and automation processes. Perform system diagnostics and resolve issues related to software, hardware, and network communication. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, wiring diagrams, and program backups. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements. Assist in the commissioning of new equipment and systems. Qualifications: Associate degree or Technical Certification in an applicable field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial automation role utilizing, troubleshooting, and programming applicable hardware and software (Allen Bradley PLCs, Ignition, Yaskawa VFDs, FactoryTalk, etc.) Familiarity with Food Safety Requirements (cGMPs, NSF, SQF etc.) Extensive Knowledge of various types of I/O (Transmitters, Thermocouples, Solenoids, relays, etc.) Strong understanding of 4-20 mA current loop devices Strong knowledge of Electrical Theory Ability to safely and effectively work on electrical circuits from 24vdc up to 480VAC Familiarity with 480VAC 3 phase motors Strong understanding of various communication protocols (Ethernet-IP, Modbus, etc.) Familiarity with OT cybersecurity best practices Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex control systems and processes on your own Strong understanding of electrical schematics, wiring, and control panel design. Ability to effectively read and interpret P&ID drawings Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. *Degree or Technical Certificate may be substituted by applicable work experience.
