The Field Service Technician provides face-to-face customer service located at an off-site location and is responsible for minor troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and reconditioning of various light and heavy construction equipment. Responsibilities

Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair diesel-powered heavy equipment and related equipment or components following established procedures and guidelines. Provide face-to-face customer service at off-site locations; communicate job progress to supervisor and customer as needed. Test, adjust, and verify proper operation of all repairs and adjustments. Prepare and complete all job-related documents, write service reports, order parts, and maintain clear customer records; access required databases to complete job. Operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates. Maintain service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections, and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation. Adhere to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations. Maintain all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in good, clean, and working order. Assist in planning and organizing work activities; meet flat rate time and re-work standards; work overtime as required by workload and customer needs. Complete all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely and proficient manner. Project professionalism with both internal and external customers; may mentor lower level Technicians. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Education and experience include at least two years of diesel-powered heavy equipment repair experience in a field environment preferred; MSHA certification preferred; air conditioning certification preferred; crane/rigger certifications preferred; high school diploma or equivalent preferred; graduation from a diesel technology program preferred. Additional Requirements

Valid driver's license required Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and must have an acceptable driving record Must have all required mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard) Travel required with a possibility of an overnight stay Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of safe work procedures and practices Advanced knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance Advanced knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, engines, undercarriage, and electrical Proficiency with current computer software and basic knowledge of machine electronic systems Exceptional customer service skills Moderate diagnostic and troubleshooting skills using CAT ET and CAT SIS 2.0 Planning and organizing skills to prioritize work, use time efficiently, and plan for additional resources Operation and control skills of equipment or systems Equipment selection skills to determine tools and equipment needed to do a job Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing Ability to operate a crane and forklift, and obtain required certifications/licenses Ability to meet deadlines and work under fast-paced, time-constraining circumstances Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair Fine motor skills to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects Physical Requirements

Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 80 pounds Constant movement and use of limbs; good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina required Climb up and down ladders and/or equipment using hands and feet Must be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment Regularly reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals and visually inspects work Disclaimer
