Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT Inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.

Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.

Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment, including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.

Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.

Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure they are working properly.

Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and generate/evaluate alternatives with sound judgment.

Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.

Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections.

Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve issues, or satisfy expectations.

Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work and time allocations effectively.

Use hand tools, precision instruments, Diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.

Document work according to company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and all findings on Repair Orders using the TRAIT application on an iOS device.

Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.

Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedule.

Maintain a high level of productivity and operate within or close to standard repair times.

Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.

Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings.

Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.

Maintain the company-issued service truck and perform safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' related experience. Alternatively, any level degree/certification beyond HS or 5 years' related experience.

Possess and provide a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.

Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.

Must be able to pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.

Current and valid DOT medical card (or alternate arrangement per policy) with sufficient validity remaining.

Must be at least 21 years of age due to interstate operating authority.

Valid driver's license in state of residence; ability to obtain and maintain Driver Qualification File.

Certifications

Required: ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.

Hourly base pay range: $28.70 - $43.03/hour. Compensation may vary by location and candidate.
