Job Title: Applied Mechanical Systems Technician Location: Phoenix, AZ Job Summary We seek a highly skilled and motivated Applied Mechanical Systems Technician to join our expanding service team in Phoenix, AZ. This field-based, full-time role is focused on servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining high-performance mechanical systems, including large-capacity HVAC equipment such as chillers, boilers, pumps, rooftop units (RTUs), and Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in complex mechanical environments and thrives in a role that demands technical expertise and customer-focused service. Key Responsibilities Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot and repair air- and water-cooled chillers (screw, scroll, centrifugal), large-capacity RTUs (20–200+ tons), and other applied mechanical systems. Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance on cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and associated infrastructure to ensure optimal system performance. VRF System Expertise: Install, commission, and maintain VRF systems by manufacturer specifications and industry standards. Controls & BAS Integration: Interface with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) for system calibration, optimization, and control integration. OEM Compliance: Follow service guidelines and protocols from manufacturers such as Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, and Mitsubishi. Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to OSHA standards, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and company safety procedures at all times. Documentation & Reporting: Accurately log all service activities, diagnostics, repairs, and parts using field service management tools. Client Communication: Professionally interact with facility managers, engineers, and contractors to deliver service updates, technical recommendations, and post-service summaries. Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on experience with applied mechanical and HVAC systems in commercial or industrial settings EPA Universal Certification (Section 608) Strong proficiency in diagnosing and servicing: Air- and water-cooled chillers (screw, scroll, centrifugal), Large RTUs, Boilers, hydronic pumps, and mechanical system components VRF systems Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and blueprints Valid Arizona driver's license with a clean driving record Strong organizational skills and effective verbal/written communication Self-directed with the ability to manage multiple service calls independently Preferred Qualifications OEM/factory training from manufacturers like Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, or Mitsubishi Experience with building automation platforms (Metasys, Tracer, Niagara, etc.) Background working in critical environments such as healthcare, data centers, or laboratories Expertise in brazing, refrigerant recovery, pressure testing, and system commissioning What We Offer Competitive compensation based on experience and certifications Company-provided service vehicle, tools, and mobile technology Paid OEM and ongoing technical training Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) with employer match A safety-first culture and supportive team environment If you're an experienced HVAC professional seeking a dynamic and rewarding career opportunity in the Phoenix area, we encourage you to apply and join our trusted service team.
