Compensation Range:

$21–$26 per hour (actual pay may vary by location, experience, and skillset)

Position Summary:

The Analyst II performs laboratory duties and maintenance, reads and interprets standards and regulations, sets up tests, monitors progress, and records data. This upstream R&d role assists client researchers in screening surfactants for detergent development, using surfactant chemistry techniques against benchmark surfactants like SDS.

Duties and Responsibilities It is everyone’s responsibility to live out our values and absolutely by shaping a world of trust while ensuring responsible progress.

Utilize synthesized or existing surfactants or chemicals for downstream characterization with tools including tensiometry, silica gel chromatography, thin‑layer chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance, and mass spectrometry.

Prepare samples in correct solvents and concentrations for use on the above instrumentation, following prescribed testing methods and standards/specifications.

Understand and adhere to standards for appropriate test methods and SOPs.

Perform quality and safety checks on samples submitted prior to testing.

Conduct testing on a variety of samples using prescribed methods, following the relevant standards and specifications.

Perform testing in coordination with clients, coworkers, and under supervision from management.

Troubleshoot client issues or questions with N+1 to enhance client satisfaction and improve client relations.

Accurately report and record test data in an electronic notebook or handwritten notebooks as needed, in a timely manner.

Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment for testing following prescribed standards/specified procedures.

Report safety, instrument, and technical issues to the appropriate contacts.

Maintain supplies, laboratory cleanliness, and analytical instrumentation as required.

Prepare stock solutions and keep shelves and reagents stocked.

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of current methods and products to be tested.

Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc. Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental policies and procedures.

Comply with clients and Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc. management systems in accordance with regulatory agencies.

Follow the guidelines set forth in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc. Quality Manual and Safety/Chemical Hygiene Plan.

Adhere to the requirements of the BV‑CPS Quality System.

Perform testing independently and with limited to no supervision from management.

Identify, troubleshoot, and provide suggested technical solutions to clients and management.

Prepare written technical reports.

Perform basic data analysis as assigned.

Assist with training, if requested.

Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.

Skills & Proficiencies

Hands‑on experience in a materials lab; the ability to handle small sample sizes.

Written and verbal communication skills, including effective communication in group settings with colleagues and clients.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in organic chemistry or a closely related field.

Minimum of 1 year of experience with surfactant chemistry techniques, including use of a tensiometer (for critical micelle concentration – CMC), silica gel chromatography, thin layer chromatography (TLC), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), and mass spectrometry (MS).

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of the above.
