Design Engineer, Suspension & Steering
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Suspension & Steering Design Engineer to join a global automotive company. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of key suspension and steering components, contributing to the performance, safety, and innovation of our next‑generation vehicles. The ideal candidate will have strong CAD capabilities, with a focus on solid modeling and detailed drawing creation, and will work closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality and reliable designs.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop suspension and steering components to meet vehicle performance, durability, and safety requirements
Create and maintain high‑quality 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using CATIA (solid modeling and detailed drawings required)
Collaborate with test engineers and suppliers to analyze test data, identify root causes of technical issues, and implement effective solutions
Review and interpret supplier quotes with an understanding of basic engineering cost elements
Participate in cost reviews and contribute to cost‑effective design decisions
Manage and support multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met
Interface with internal engineering teams and external partners to support the design, validation, and production of suspension and steering systems
Participate in design reviews and provide input on product improvements and cost reduction opportunities
Required Qualifications
3–5+ years of relevant design experience
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Strong proficiency in CATIA V5 for part and assembly modeling
CATIA V6 experience is highly desired
Solid understanding of automotive chassis systems, geometry, materials, and mechanical design principles
Hands‑on experience with solid modeling and drawing creation
Exposure to cost management or quote review processes preferred
Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a proactive, solution‑driven mindset
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in chassis or suspension/steering system design in the automotive industry
Familiarity with the full product development lifecycle from concept through production
Experience working with global suppliers and cross‑functional engineering teams
Onsite Requirements 5 days onsite. Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's License once onboarded.
