Summary This role will support Chassis (Suspension/Steering) engineering design and development activities for a large‑scale Automotive OEM.
Responsibilities
Lead and support the engineering activities for large scale product development programs by investigating feasibility, performing design using 3‑D modeling software, conduct layout review and 2D drawing creation.
Analyze and resolve problems with moderate level of guidance and direction.
Create part specification requirements and BOM.
Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers.
Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up‑to‑date technology, and reduce design and parts costs.
Travel to client sites required.
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 3+ years relevant industry experience in Design and development of Automotive Chassis Suspension/Steering systems for components such as Springs, Dampers, Knuckles, Stabilizer bars/links, Control Arms, Tie Rods, EPS Gearbox, Column, etc.
Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
3+ years experience using 3‑D modeling software tool CATIA V5 (V6/3DX preferred).
Experience and understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack‑ups, FEA and kinematics.
Strong understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in MS office.
