A leading higher education campus in Claremont is seeking an experienced Electrical Substation Foreman to oversee high-voltage operations (up to 4.16kV), maintenance, and repair across multiple facilities. This position ensures safe, reliable power delivery for The Colleges and plays a key role in coordinating with Southern California Edison (SCE) and solar/PV integration projects.
What You’ll Do
Oversee daily operation, maintenance, and inspection of the campus electrical substation and related systems
Plan and coordinate system outages, equipment upgrades, and preventative maintenance schedules
Troubleshoot and resolve high-voltage issues safely and efficiently
Manage contractors, budgets, and timelines for electrical and substation projects
Support solar and photovoltaic (PV) integration projects in collaboration with engineers and SCE
Maintain strict safety compliance with OSHA, NESC, and institutional standards
What We’re Looking For
5+ years of hands-on experience with high-voltage systems (4kV and above)
Strong knowledge of transformers, breakers, switchgear, meters, and controls
Proven ability to lead crews and coordinate electrical projects
Familiarity with SCE systems, codes, and interconnection processes (GIPT a plus)
Technical certification or journeyman-level training preferred
Strong communication, safety, and problem-solving skills
