Overview

Fleet Mechanic role at Inside Higher Ed. This position provides service, tune-ups, repairs, safety inspections, and preventative maintenance for the College’s fleet vehicles and equipment. The role ensures a safe, clean, and well-maintained fleet by performing skilled diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures, scheduling and tracking maintenance, and completing necessary repairs. Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as OBD-II readers and software like ALLDATA OEM (or equivalent) is required. Salary

Minimum Hiring Annual Salary: $53,318.00 Maximum Hiring Annual Salary: $57,584.00 To attain the maximum annual salary, the employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus additional criteria listed under Qualifications. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED; plus two (2) years of automotive industry experience or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience. Basic understanding of vehicle repair and maintenance. Knowledge of diesel and/or gasoline engines, electric motors, and automotive, electrical, and mechanical system repairs. Methods, techniques, and practices of operation, repair, and maintenance of automobiles and program vehicles, including cost estimating. Materials, supplies, equipment, and practices used in automotive maintenance and repair. Occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to various vehicle maintenance operations. Ability to establish and maintain vehicle maintenance programs. Ability to read automotive wiring schematics. Ability to use necessary tools associated with this trade with precision. Position requires use of a company vehicle for business travel; candidate must pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance. Pre-employment physical evaluation required. Preferred Qualifications: Vocational/Technical Certificate in Automotive Technology or equivalent. Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology, engineering, etc.; ASE certified; plus two (2) years of automotive experience and applicable automotive repair certificate (ASE preferred) or equivalent. General Auto Mechanics license or equivalent; ASE Certified. Experience with vehicle tracking programs/software and installation of devices. Other applicable automotive repair certificates. Responsibilities

Service: full line service to all vehicles and equipment, including fluid changes, filter changes, belt inspection, and lubrication of chassis and components. Tune-ups: diagnose and implement tune-up needs for gasoline and diesel engines, ignition, fuel system, and drive train components. Repair: diagnose and implement repairs for electrical, cooling, engine, steering, braking, intake/exhaust, suspension, safety components, and related systems. Preventive maintenance: inspect and implement procedures to prevent major repairs and keep equipment operating safely and efficiently. Maintain fleet vehicles and prepare them for daily use; coordinate outside repairs when needed; assist with vehicle titles and licensing in coordination with the Weld County Clerk and Recorder. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software as noted above. Safety, Records & Compliance

Conduct safety inspections and maintain fleet records; ensure emissions compliance with state programs; manage inventory of parts for service/repairs. Work with Weld County for license, registration, and titling of vehicles. Maintain current fleet vehicle records and documentation as required. Work Requirements

Must be able to travel using a company vehicle; pass MVR; be insurable under Aims insurance. Criminal background check and may require industry-specific screenings (MVR, physical, drug screen) upon hire; a conviction is considered relative to duties. Required Documents
