As a Component Design Engineer, you will be part of the Global Mechanical Systems Capability function. You will create engineering solutions that satisfy functional and physical requirements in Product System and Sub‑System level environments. The engineered solutions must exhibit robustness for manufacturing capability and deliver on‑time component design definition artifacts – documents, models, and definitions that meet system level and sub‑system requirements. You will participate within ITPs described by Product Lifecycle System (PLS) and operate in accordance with applicable Rolls‑Royce Management System (RRMS) policies and processes. In this role you will also support sub‑system integration of technical activities, enable lifecycle profitability through Supply Chain Design, and provide engineering support for service and development related hardware issues. Deliver new component designs, analyses, and changes within the Design Technical Approval (DTA) gated process, including creating design concepts, optimizing to final definition, preparing technical presentations and documents, supporting drawing creation, analysis, hardware validation, and release to the field. Support the supply chain in procuring hardware, concession consultation and execution of Drawing Alteration Requests (DARs). Provide engineering support for service and/or development related hardware issues including Engine Investigations (EI) and Technical Variance (TV) analysis. Develop and specify component design requirements in accordance with module, system, and customer interface requirements. Address manufacturing, assembly, in‑field, and aftermarket issues as they arise. Participate in or lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) teams. Who We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with at least 1 year of experience in mechanical design, OR Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, OR JD/PhD in Mechanical Engineering. To be considered for this role, you must be a US Citizen. Preferred Qualifications

Experience in designing, analysing, and/or verifying aerospace mechanical components and/or systems. Experience progressing designs/changes through a gated review process. Experience with gas turbine or turbomachinery power transmission components, including gears, rolling element bearings, shafts, and high‑performance seals. Experience with Siemens NX, Siemens Teamcenter, ANSYS, Microsoft Excel. Experience with dimensional tolerance stack‑ups and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Knowledge of gas turbine subsystems and components, and their function and operation. What We Offer
