As a Component Design Engineer for gas turbine Turbomachinery components you will be part of the global Engineering, Technology & Safety (ET&S) Turbomachinery organization. You will develop complex engineering solutions that satisfy cutting‑edge aerospace functional and physical requirements and exhibit robustness for manufacturing capability. Within your assigned propulsion system program, you’ll be responsible for developing, assessing, and delivering high‑performance gas turbine turbomachinery components that push the envelope with performance, life, and efficiency.

What You Will Be Doing

Create component design definition in accordance with module, system, and customer interface requirements.

Deliver new component designs and design changes within the Design Technical Approval (DTA) Process, creating design concepts, optimizing concepts to a final definition, preparing technical presentations and documents, supporting creation of drawings, delivering hardware for validation, and release of hardware to the field.

Review component requirements for their responsible sub‑system’s hardware. Develop and execute validation plans to demonstrate compliance to the requirements.

Provide engineering support of service and/or development related hardware issues including Engine Investigations (EI) and Technical Variance (TV) consultation.

Address manufacturing, assembly, in‑field, and aftermarket issues as they arise.

Support the supply chain in procuring hardware from multiple suppliers including concession consultation and execution of Drawing Alteration Requests (DARs).

Participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) teams.

Basic Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 1+ years of experience in mechanical design or a Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a JD/PhD in Engineering.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Requirements

Experience working with Siemens NX, Teamcenter and/or ANSYS Workbench.

Experience with the definition release process and GD&T.

Experience with computer programming (i.e. Python, Matlab, Visual Basic, and/or C++) design optimization, and robust design techniques.

Experience working with manufacturing and/or quality, especially with regards to the assessment of non‑conforming hardware.
