Overview

Component Design Engineer for gas turbine Turbomachinery components. Part of the global Turbomachinery Engineering, Technology & Safety organization. Develop complex engineering solutions that satisfy aerospace functional and physical requirements and robustness for manufacturing capability. Responsible for developing, assessing, and delivering high‑performance gas turbine turbomachinery components that optimize performance, life, and efficiency within the assigned propulsion system program. What you will be doing

With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to: Deliver on concept generation, detailed definition, and validation requirements in the development of solutions to address the design problems identified by the AE Program Support the supply chain in procuring hardware including review of supplier documentation, assessment of non-conforming hardware, and review of supplier change proposals Create detailed component definition (drawings and/or model-based definition); complete dimensional tolerance stacks; establish Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements; and support manufacturing to produce conforming hardware Review and approve component requirements for their responsible sub-system's hardware. Develop, approve, and execute validation plans to demonstrate compliance to the requirements Present and defend design solutions and technical work to program leadership and other stakeholders Support manufacturing, assembly, service, and aftermarket issues promptly to keep production on target and the fleet in operation Perform a leadership role in investigations of in-service and/or development hardware issues including Engine Investigations, failure analysis, root cause / corrective action (RCCA), Technical Variance consultation, reporting, and documentation. Share findings with the global turbomachinery team in accordance with export control regulations Who we're looking for

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 1+ years of experience in design engineering, mechanical engineering and/or aerospace engineering OR A Master's degree in Engineering with experience in design engineering, mechanical engineering and/or aerospace engineering OR JD/PhD in Engineering To be considered for this opportunity, you must be a US Citizen or permanent resident Preferred Requirements

Experience with turbine component design methods and practices including component integrity, structural analysis, thermals and lifing spreadsheets Experience with coatings and their application within turbine and hot section systems Broader experience with rotating and static component design in highly stressed or critical assemblies Experience working with Siemens NX, Teamcenter and/or ANSYS Workbench Experience with the definition release process and GD&T Experience with computer programming and design optimization Experience working with manufacturing and/or quality, especially with regards to the assessment of non-conforming hardware What we offer
