Overview
The County of Riverside seeks a candidate for Riverside University Health System (RUHS) — Arlington Plant Operations department. A list of eligible candidates will be established to fill current and future vacancies. The Lead Maintenance Services Mechanic will be based at the Riverside Plant Operations Arlington Campus and will lead maintenance programs across facilities. The Lead Maintenance Services Mechanic will assign, inspect and perform skilled and semi-skilled work required for preventive and corrective action on electrical, plumbing, carpentry and other mechanical systems and equipment. The selected candidate will supervise building maintenance staff, custodians, and specialized trade personnel, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities. This position carries leadership over plumbers, painters, carpenters, and electricians, and oversees maintenance operations throughout the County facility. The candidate will conduct regular inspections to assess the quality of work and ensure compliance with regulations and standards established by The Joint Commission, CMS, and NFPA, maintaining safe, functional, and compliant environments across all buildings and grounds. Responsibilities
Assigns and inspects a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on building structures, systems, and equipment. Assigns, inspects, and performs maintenance and repair work on power mowers and related equipment. Coordinates staff assignments according to the skills needed for specific projects; estimates time requirements and orders supplies for maintenance projects. Makes periodic inspections of County facilities to ensure maintenance work is performed and directs on-site staff regarding conditions that need attention. Inspects buildings and equipment to locate repairs or maintenance needs; ensures safe work practices and procedures are followed. Reads building plans, equipment diagrams, and sketches; communicates with vendors to purchase specialized parts requiring technical knowledge. Assigns and reviews scheduled preventive maintenance on boilers, hot water heaters, and other plumbing systems. Assists in moving office furniture and equipment within buildings. Services and maintains electrical and mechanical building equipment and various appliances. Repairs electrical and mechanical doors, gate locks, and latches; rebuilds motors, pumps, and compressors; uses and maintains hand and power tools for maintenance projects. May occasionally perform carpentry, plastering, painting, masonry, welding, roofing, and other related trades.
Qualifications
Experience
— Five years of experience in rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, or building plant operation and maintenance with working knowledge of all fields. Knowledge Of
— Methods, materials, and equipment used in building maintenance and repair, and in operation and repair of plumbing, heating, HVAC, electrical systems; safety orders related to these systems. Ability To
— Read and write English for job performance; perform maintenance and repair work on plumbing, heating, HVAC, electrical systems, building structures, pumps, and motors; read and interpret plans and specifications; keep records; follow directions; lay out and inspect the work of others.
Other Requirements
Possession of a valid California Driver License: Class C
Pre-Employment
