JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Project Technician is responsible to, support/responsible for ensuring article transitions are on time and at peak levels of quality and efficiency. Guide advancements through the continuous improvement process and report progress and technical problems to project supervisor. Develop, train, and motivate other team members through knowledge and expertise and execute implementation of work assignments to department standards and quality systems. Develop cross discipline experience and enhance knowledge through working with engineers and other technicians.
JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
Leadership
Continually and proactively demonstrates strong leadership through training, motivating and developing other team members.
Develop and implement training procedures.
Train and develop new employees. This may require temporary assignment to other shifts.
Projects – Article Transitions
Completes changeover of machines for trial and acceptance runs.
Monitors machines per control plan to ensure the process is running according to specification.
Develops set-up records for each machine and products produced; submits article inspection parts to quality for approval.
Possesses a high level of knowledge about all processes used throughout the department. This includes quality testing and reporting, emergency procedures, etc.
Assembles equipment and tooling for scheduled trial runs.
Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions, adjusting and documenting as necessary.
Possesses some knowledge about all equipment used throughout the manufacturing process. This includes machinery, auxiliary equipment, tooling, electrical components, controllers, relevant lab equipment, etc.
Communicate any scheduling concerns with leadership and work to resolve any discrepancies.
Attend meetings and report progress on assigned deliverables/tasks
Continuous Improvement
Formally communicates project information to Supervisor.
Assists in presenting project information to managers and directors.
Suggests equipment and tooling improvements based on project experience and results.
Drives root cause analysis and proper corrective actions.
Tooling
Inspect tooling before and after trial or acceptance runs to ensure quality. Communicates any issues to the appropriate tooling department, quality and leadership as needed.
Capable of performing preventative maintenance on all tooling including but not limited to: complete tear down, cleaning and greasing, visual and dimensional inspection, and complete assembly.
Must be able to identify, assess root cause, communicate and recommend solutions to any tooling wear or damage.
Administrative
Maintain documentation on processing and tooling issues.
Ensure company policies and guidelines are being followed.
Recommend improvements to policies and procedures aimed at improving efficiency, safety, quality, etc.
Ensures team members maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Quality and Recordkeeping
Process and control any non-conformance defects with project parts.
Update and maintain necessary documentation.
Cleaning and Area Upkeep
Ensure a clean and safe work environment.
Perform the 6S activities (sort, straighten, shine, standardize, sustain and safety) to organize and manage workstations.
Cleaning and maintenance of project area, machinery, tooling, etc.
Help ensure tooling is put away in the proper location.
Other
Attends operational and safety meetings as required.
Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
Travel up to 50% of the time.
Special Job Dimensions
May be required to work different shifts as needed.
May be required to work / train in different manufacturing locations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of companies’ policies and procedures regarding health and safety issues
Ability to carry out instructions in written, verbal and diagram form
Ability to prioritize and resolve problems
Ability to comply with quality system procedures
Proficient in MS Office suite
Experience in SAP
Good organizational skills
Ability to work with little supervision
Good communication skills
Ability to solve problems and make quick decisions
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing

Education, Certifications/Licensure & Work Experience
High School Education or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of technical manufacturing/tooling experience preferred
Experience with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships (colleagues, vendors, customers, etc.)

Total Rewards Package :
Compensation
Base: $68,000 - $75,000 annually, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
