Sr. Maintenance Tech – PLC (Mon‑Fri Day Shifts)
Niagara Bottling is looking for a Senior Maintenance Technician to maintain and troubleshoot PLCs, 480 VAC & 24 VDC components, and plant operating systems in a high‑speed bottling environment.
Location: MESA, MN.
Essential Functions
Adhere to and enforce highest safety and good manufacturing practice standards plant‑wide.
Train and lead Operators, Mechanics, and Supervisors on technical procedures related to bottling and packaging.
Collaborate with Plant leadership on continuous‑improvement projects, upgrades, and problem resolution.
Rapidly identify machine problems to minimize downtime, conduct root‑cause analysis, and prevent recurrence.
Partner with other Senior Maintenance Technicians to resolve cross‑functional issues.
Use available software systems to analyze and identify issues to drive throughput performance.
Define requirements and lead overhaul efforts to rebuild equipment during planned downtime.
Transfer knowledge to Niagara team members to develop operating and troubleshooting procedures in the following areas:
Blow molding (PET processing, machine set‑up, mold changes, quality inspection).
Filling/capping (beverage processing, cap feeding, vision inspections, laser date coders, quality/sanitation standards, conveyors).
Labeling technology (roll‑fed, cut‑and‑stack, hot‑melt gluing, conveyors).
Dry‑end packaging (case packers, conveyors, palletizers, stretch wrappers, machine set‑up for pack size changes).
Common OEMs: Krones, Sidel, KHS, Sacmi, Tech‑Long.
Transfer knowledge to Niagara team members to develop operating and troubleshooting procedures in injection technology areas:
Husky injection molding machines (hydraulic, pneumatic, electromechanical).
Auxiliary systems: resin handling/blending, resin drying, dehumidification, vision inspection, conveyors, cooling.
Mold systems: hot runner, cold half, component wear troubleshooting.
Plastic processing at high speeds with tight tolerances and acceptable acetaldehyde levels.
Create SOPs for troubleshooting and upload to BDA system.
Maintain predictable attendance and required on‑call availability for equipment uptime.
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods; lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
6 years in electrical maintenance.
6 years in position (Senior Maintenance Technician – PLC).
4 years managing people/projects.
Effectively communicate issues and solutions to cross‑functional teams.
Read and interpret electrical and instrumentation schematics.
Familiarity with basic hand tools, multimeter, PLC hardware (I/O modules, communication modules, CPUs, safety relays).
Knowledge of RSLogix 5000, SIMATIC Step 7, Factory Talk Studio.
Willing to be a technical leader and trainer in the automation and electrical area.
Skilled repairing variable frequency drives, servomotors, controllers, communication systems (AS‑Bus, CAN‑Bus, Profi‑Bus, Ethernet), PLC I/O cards, safety modules.
Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Own toolbox and basic tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years in electrical maintenance.
10+ years in position.
6 years managing people/projects.
4 years troubleshooting Allen Bradley, B&R, or Siemens.
4 years in electro‑mechanical role with Krones, Husky, Sidel, or other packaging/bottling equipment.
1 year leading and developing others in electro‑mechanical repair.
2 years creating process improvements or continuous‑improvement initiatives.
Lay‑out and installation of electrical and communication lines.
Proficiency in troubleshooting Allen Bradley, B&R, Siemens; experience with RSLogix 5000, SIMATIC Step 7, Factory Talk Studio.
