Operations and Maintenance Plant Technician Associate role supporting the power plant operations and maintenance team. This position involves semi-skilled manual work, maintenance, and operating duties in connection with power plant operation, performed under close supervision. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrate ethical behavior and lead in safe and healthy work practices and environmental stewardship. Adhere to operating practices and procedures to prevent injury, illness, and environmental noncompliance. Maintain safe working conditions, use proper tools and equipment, and wear protective clothing and devices. Assist in equipment checks to ensure safe and efficient operation during start-up, operation, and shutdown of turbines, generators, boilers, pumps, exciters, transformers, switchyard, and auxiliary equipment. Operate valves, pumps, electrical disconnects, breakers and controls from remote locations as directed. Report all abnormal plant conditions and alarms to lead O&M Technician or supervision. Maintain awareness of plant operations to optimize unit economics. Record discrepancies, coordinate with others, and take immediate action in emergencies. Assist in monitoring, inspecting, installing, removing, testing, adjusting, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and plant control systems and components. Perform simple control system monitoring using computer interfaces. Locate and repair control systems using schematic, wiring, and control diagrams. Use electrical and instrumentation test equipment to troubleshoot and calibrate equipment as directed. Operate hoists, fork-lift, small tractors, aerial lifts, scissor lifts, mobile cranes, and automotive equipment. Inspect scaffolds and rigging after training and per company policies. Assist in basic mechanical maintenance: dismantling, rebuilding, adjusting, aligning, packing, cleaning equipment; operate welding and cutting equipment as directed; perform painting and surface preparation; load, unload, and move materials and equipment. Operate machine shop equipment (e.g., shapers, drill presses) to measure and produce accurate parts; maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean condition. Perform basic preventive maintenance: inspect, lubricate, troubleshoot, and test plant equipment; assist in inspections and corrective maintenance; assist in tests and inspections to ensure proper operation. Learn work management systems to initiate, retrieve, and update work orders and related records. Use computer applications to extract data and report status; prepare drawings/layouts for projects as directed. Assist in environmental and industrial hygiene tasks (emissions monitoring, noise and gas detection). Collect and analyze air, water, and chemical samples as directed. Support safety programs and environmental compliance under supervision. Conduct job safety analyses and follow appropriate guidelines in job briefings. Work under general direction of other O&M Technicians and plant supervision. Isolate equipment and manage energy releases per permit procedures. Obtain hot work and confined space permits as required to complete work safely. Respond to emergency situations as directed. Maintain plant security and proficiency in basic firefighting, first aid, and CPR. Adhere to SPCC, FRP, and emergency response programs. Report and document safety, health near misses, incidents, accidents, and environmental hazards per company policies. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards. Assist supervision and other O&M Technicians by preparing sketches and notes for layouts/installation of equipment and remodeling projects. Participate in trainings and share knowledge with others; exercise good judgment to prevent accidents. Assist in managing site inventory and inventory audits. Support site environmental and safety programs and regulatory tasks under supervision. Assist in NERC compliance tasks and review/approval of site invoices under supervision. Learn to operate units under supervision, including startup, operation, and shutdown of equipment and systems in line with approved plant procedures. Report findings and assist with necessary corrections or repairs. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Education: Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Power Plant Technologies, or Industrial Engineering Technology Licenses and Certifications: Physical abilities assessment required. Must obtain and maintain all necessary certifications and licenses as required. Must complete required training and pass examinations as determined by the company to advance to the O&M Plant Technician classification and remain eligible for continued employment. Must possess the appropriate State driver\'s license. Experience: Successful completion of POSS and MASS tests or substitution with relevant on-the-job experience or education. Other related testing information may be considered as needed. Abilities & Skills: Ability to work with others and learn to direct the work of others. Ability to learn and follow company rules, policies, OSHA regulations, and operating procedures. Ability to learn required tools and equipment. Ability to perform duties in a multitasking plant environment safely and effectively. Ability to read, interpret, and work from prints and specifications.
