About the Role We are seeking an experienced
Substation Project Manager – Construction
to oversee the successful execution of high-voltage substation projects in
EASTERN OHIO and the surrounding region . This position is ideal for a hands‑on leader who understands the full lifecycle of substation construction—from design coordination and procurement through energization and closeout.
The Project Manager will play a key role in ensuring safety, quality, budget, and schedule performance across multiple utility and renewable energy infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities Project Management & Execution
Plan, organize, and manage substation construction projects (69kV–500kV) from start to finish.
Oversee all phases, including pre‑construction, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
Lead project scheduling, resource allocation, and cost control to ensure timely and profitable completion.
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, field crews, and subcontractors to align on scope and deliverables.
Safety & Quality
Enforce strict safety and environmental compliance in accordance with OSHA and company policies.
Ensure all work meets or exceeds quality control standards and applicable industry codes (NESC, IEEE, etc.).
Drive a safety‑first culture across all project teams.
Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking.
Oversee contract administration, including change orders, purchase orders, and client billing.
Monitor project financial performance and proactively address risks or deviations.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, utilities, and project partners.
Lead regular project meetings to communicate progress, challenges, and solutions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to support long‑term business growth.
Field Leadership
Provide direct support and oversight to field supervisors and construction crews.
Conduct site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and verify compliance with design and specifications.
Support site logistics, materials management, and subcontractor coordination.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent work experience.
7–10+ years of experience managing substation construction projects for utilities, EPCs, or contractors.
Strong understanding of substation civil, structural, and electrical systems.
Proven track record managing budgets, schedules, and field operations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed (typically within Eastern Ohio region).
Preferred
PMP certification or equivalent project management training.
OSHA 30‑hour certification.
Experience with EPC or design‑build delivery models.
Familiarity with utility client standards and permitting processes.
Base Salary: Up to $150,000 (flexible based on experience and qualifications)
Annual performance bonus potential up to 25%
