Exempt This position has vacancies in both the Parks & Recreation and Planning & Sustainability departments. Essential Functions
The following duties are typical for this position. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them if similar or related work is required. Other duties may be assigned. Conducts and reviews modeling, planning, and engineering studies supporting project analysis and design, providing technical support during construction. Prepares reports on analyses and recommendations. Reviews engineering calculations submitted by consultants or internal staff. Performs programming assessments to determine space, infrastructure, and facility needs. Assists in developing lists of potential infrastructure projects for the capital investment plan. May serve as a subject matter expert, managing multiple complex projects and providing leadership to engineering staff. Develops preliminary and final plans using CAD and other tools; creates engineering specifications based on assessments, design concepts, and standards. Coordinates and reviews work of contractors, architects, engineers, and city staff. Ensures designs conform to regulations and approves modifications. Reviews civil engineering aspects of site development plans for compliance with laws, regulations, and standards. Assesses project impacts on traffic and transportation. Provides guidance and oversight to engineering staff on projects. Calculates cost estimates and resource requirements. Facilitates communication among stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and the public. Assists in bid evaluations and contract award recommendations. Specific to Planning & Sustainability
Seeking a Floodplain Manager responsible for managing floodplain programs and policies, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting floodplain mapping, reviewing development proposals, and providing technical guidance. The role involves stakeholder coordination, community outreach, and staying current with floodplain management practices. Develops and implements floodplain policies. Ensures compliance with regulations. Coordinates with agencies and property owners. Conducts floodplain mapping and analysis. Reviews development proposals within floodplains. Provides technical assistance and public education. Prepares reports and maintains records. Participates in emergency response efforts. Evaluates flood mitigation measures and applies hydrologic/hydraulic data analysis. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field, with four years of experience. Engineer-in-Training status preferred. Must hold a valid Georgia driver’s license. Additional Information
