Job Description
Responsibilities
Performs comprehensive ultrasound exams. Follows established protocols to verify, plan, set up, perform, and report appropriate examinations. Verifies identity and informs and observes patient during procedure to ensure patient education, cooperation, and safety. Assists in continuing quality assurance and performance improvement.
Completes clerical tasks associated with ultrasound tests. Records all testing information accurately, completely, and in a timely manner. Ensures that critical results are reported promptly and accurately, following established policy. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
Communicates with physicians, patients, and other center personnel. Maintains a pleasant and informative manner in communications. Makes recommendations to supervisor on related duties, policies and procedures.
Enhances environment of teamwork. Demonstrates motivation, accountability, problem solving, and willingness to seek guidance. Demonstrates understanding of the impact of individual performance on the team and mentors others when appropriate.
Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner. Cleans patient areas after use, notifies supervisor of stocking and equipment needs, and participates in lab opening/closing procedures. Maintains equipment according to Hospital Infection Control policies.
Identifies personal learning needs and engages in department activities to upgrade growth. Attends in-services and meetings, strives to increase proficiency, and suggests improved techniques and processes.
Professional Roles
Echo Sonographer III: Includes skills of Sonographer levels 1+2 and protocol directed/research protocols. Develops professionally with a positive attitude and high engagement; contributes to patient safety culture and learns new technology and equipment.
Vascular Tech. III: Vascular Tech. 1+-2, graft surveillance, arterial duplex, pseudoaneurysm and/or fistula concepts. Demonstrates patient safety focus and ongoing professional development; SVU member; assists with IAC and QI initiatives.
Qualifications
Position Qualifications Required: Registry through CCI or ARDMS; Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
Echo Sonographer III: Registered Sonographer.
Vascular Tech. III: RVT/RVS.
Skills/Activities: Excellent interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communication, basic computer proficiency.
