Overview
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia School of Medicine seeks an MD or equivalent physician with subspecialty training in pediatric infectious diseases to join the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. The successful candidate will be expected to be board-certified or board-eligible with a commitment to the clinical care of children with infectious diseases. Rank, tenure status and compensation (including a generous fringe benefits package) are dependent upon qualifications. Responsibilities
Clinical care of pediatric patients with infectious diseases. Opportunities to develop additional research, service, quality improvement, teaching or advocacy efforts. Participate in teaching medical, graduate, and undergraduate students where possible. Qualifications
MD or DO degree with subspecialty training in pediatric infectious diseases. Board-certified or board-eligible. Eligible for appointment to the University of Virginia faculty. Expertise in care of the immunocompromised host preferred. The position is open to tenure or non-tenure track at the professor, associate professor, or assistant professor rank as appropriate. Individuals with established clinical or laboratory research programs are preferred. About UVA and Charlottesville
Charlottesville is a small city with a broad range of infectious diseases encountered by the Pediatric Infectious Disease Service. The service supports an active transplant program, hematology-oncology service, bone marrow transplantation, multiple surgical services, and clinics including Young Traveler’s Clinic and a Diagnostic Dilemmas Clinic. UVA Health features a Level 1 trauma center, an NCI-designated cancer center, and a Level IV NICU. UVA Children’s Hospital is nationally recognized in multiple subspecialties.
