Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join Emerald Nursing & Rehab Brookside, a leading skilled nursing facility. The SLP will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in our diverse resident population. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geriatric care, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of life for our residents.
Work Environment This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and resident needs.
Treatment and Intervention: Implement and monitor therapeutic interventions to improve communication skills and swallowing functions.
Adapt treatment techniques to meet the specific needs and goals of each resident.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident progress, treatment plans, and clinical notes.
Prepare detailed reports and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, residents, and their families.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Work with nurses, physicians, OT/PT and other professionals to provide holistic care; participate in care planning meetings.
Education and Training: Provide education and training to residents, families, and staff; stay current with best practices in the field.
Compliance and Standards: Adhere to facility policies, state and federal regulations, and professional standards of practice; ensure practices comply with healthcare and safety regulations.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Nebraska.
CCC-SLP from ASHA is preferred.
Experience in a skilled nursing or geriatric setting is highly desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Compassionate, patient-centered approach and a commitment to improving residents’ quality of life.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and transfer patients with assistance.
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
Adequate visual and auditory acuity to assess and interact with residents.
