Responsible for obtaining trans-thoracic echocardiograms including real time, pulsed Doppler, continuous wave Doppler, color Doppler and fetal echoes (when applicable) in the pediatric population. Compiles data required by the pediatric cardiologist on all studies. Performs trans-thoracic echocardiograms and fetal echocardiograms (when applicable) according to the requirements set by the CVIS Lab protocols. Demonstrates an understanding of congenital heart defects and their surgical repairs to obtain quality images for the Cardiologist who is interpreting the study. Responsible for entering correct patient demographics, caregivers and study information. Maintains necessary supplies and linen in the echo room assigned for the week; maintains cleanliness of echo room, machines, TEE probes, and office area. Participates in research projects as requested. Attends and participates in the monthly pediatric QA conference and monthly departmental staff meetings. Assists Technical Manager and Medical Director in evaluation of new equipment and Sonographers. Provides echocardiography orientation to Cardiology Fellows, Residents, Medical Students and Sonography students if requested. Responsible for making service calls to Biomed when there is an equipment failure. Participates in department quality improvement initiatives and education for JACHO and EOC rounds. Qualifications

Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) through ARDMS OR Fetal Echocardiography (FE) through ARDMS within 24 months of hire. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date. Physical Requirements

Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds. Hearing (aid permitted) – must be able to function without lip reading. Visual acuity (corrected) – keen for both distant and near objects/individuals. Working Environment

Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, body fluids, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment is clinical by nature. Skills And Abilities
