About the Role
The Facilities department at Front Range Community College (FRCC) seeks a qualified Grounds & Nursery II professional to maintain the Westminster Campus grounds to a high standard. The position requires a strong on‑campus presence and duties include irrigation, turf, snow, and flower bed maintenance, as well as assisting with storm sewer maintenance and special event support. Responsibilities
Operate, install, and maintain irrigation systems, including sprinklers, back‑flow preventers, and drip zones. Perform turf maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, edging, aeration, and fertilization. Assist with snow removal operations, equipment maintenance, and preventative care. Maintain flower beds, seasonal displays, shrubs, trees, and xeriscaping areas. Maintain records and perform preventative maintenance on facilities equipment and fleet vehicles. Support the maintenance of the campus storm sewer system, detention pond structures, and campus trash mitigation. Assist with special event preparation for Student Life or Facilities leadership. Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience in horticulture, landscape maintenance, or greenhouse operations. Valid State of Colorado driver’s license and ability to pass an MVR. Ability to lift up to 125 lbs (combination of 100, 50, and 20 lbs forces). Minimum Requirements & Conditions
Must possess and maintain a Private Pesticides Applicators License within the first six months of employment. Must complete a pre‑employment background check. Required Competencies
Hand Tool Proficiency – use of shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hedge trimmers, and brush trimmers. Power Equipment Operation – mowers, tractors, snow blowers, electric clippers. Irrigation System Management – design, operation, and maintenance of irrigation systems. Turf Management Expertise – mowing, aeration, fertilization, disease identification. Plant & Foliage Care – planting, pruning, and replacement of flowers and foliage. Pest & Disease Identification – assist in reporting plant pest and disease issues. Technology Skills – Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, irrigation software. Communication – verbal and written communication with supervisors and stakeholders. Benefits
