Connecticut joined the Nurse Licensure Compact effective October 1, 2025. This position offers the opportunity to provide professional nursing care to children, adolescents, and families while contributing to a comprehensive, collaborative health team.

Shift: 2nd Shift (2:45 pm – 11:15 pm)
Days off: Friday & Tuesday one week, Saturday & Sunday the next week
Recruitment and retention bonus: $3,000 per year for RN’s permanently assigned to the second or third shift after one year of service

Responsibilities
Implement the nursing process, including assessments and interventions, for individuals including carrying out physician’s orders regarding diet, medication, and treatment.
Perform assessments, change dressings, monitor and ensure quality care through observation and evaluation; document nursing interventions in medical records.
Distribute and maintain records of controlled drugs and ensure their security; maintain inventory of medications and supplies.
Provide patient and family education regarding treatments, nursing plans, and health-related issues.
Respond to emergencies and participate in rapid response and crisis interventions.
Serve as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team, contributing to assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of individual treatment or health/mental health care plans.
Participate in outpatient clinics, physical examinations, routine lab testing, and psychotherapeutic and rehabilitation interventions as needed.
Delegate nursing tasks consistent with established protocols.
Offer related medical or mental health specialty support as required.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Current Registered Nurse license in Connecticut or a Multistate/Compact Registered Nurse license.
Experience working in a behavioral health hospital setting.
Experience serving youth with complex psychiatric profiles.
Proficiency in the use of American Sign Language or a foreign language, if required by the position.
Ability to travel as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Comprehensive understanding of professional nursing theory, practice, and ethics.
In-depth knowledge of medications, interventions, and quality standards.
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Capacity to act as a role model, teaching professional behaviors to staff.
Ability to develop therapeutic relationships and provide empathetic assistance to individuals and families.
Proficiency in emergency response and team collaboration.
Analytical skills for evaluating and improving patient care.
Working Conditions The role may require lifting and restraining individuals, exposure to communicable diseases, risk of injury from assaultive or abusive individuals, and presentation of disagreeable conditions.
