Life Sciences Lab Assistant
who will support Principal Investigator, Dr. Irene Lorenzo Llorente. The Lab Assistant position is located within a human stem cell biology/neuroscience laboratory at Stanford University and the Palo alto VA Medical Center and calls for a highly motivated, intelligent, responsible, conscientious, and detail-oriented individual. The successful candidate must be a quick learner who enjoys acquiring new skills, advancing projects independently and collaboratively. We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with a proven interest in several of the following areas: human cell culture, human pluripotent stem cell techniques, CRISPR genome editing, standard molecular biology techniques, animal handling, behavioral testing, ddPCR, FACS and confocal microscopy. This is a part time position at 0-10 hours/week. Benefits

Assist with the production, maintenance, and QC of human pluripotent stem cells; Cellular analysis assistance including immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, DNA / RNA isolation, PCR, and molecular biology techniques; Preparing and assisting with operation of instruments such as flow cytometer, automated fluorescence microscope, plate washer, automated pipettors, liquid handling robotics; Assisting with mice behavioral testing and analysis; Animal surgeries (cellular transplantation and stroke induction); Assisting with monitoring/ordering/managing supplies; Aiding with the generation of media and stock solutions; Following and ensuring compliance with institutional and federal guidelines in health, safety and animal regulations; Preparing figures and protocols and learning lab techniques; Other tasks as assigned. Qualifications
Required:
Undergraduate student; 0-1 year undergraduate; Willingness to work with animals and human tissues; Strong organizational skills, work ethic, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; Ability to work independently as well as with others as a team in a productive manner;
Desired:
Area of study in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related discipline; More than 1 year research lab experience.
