Previous related experience POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides physical therapy services for children receiving special education services throughout the District. Assesses, plans, organizes, and participates in educationally based programs that provide students with optimal educational opportunities. Opportunities include functional positioning, movement, mobility, etc. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Responsible for following through with goals on Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children from birth to 22 years old, including collaboratively determining the need for physical therapy as a related service or reasonable accommodation. Evaluates students and writes reports regarding the evaluation. Assesses various aspects of a child's physical capability, such as flexibility, strength, endurance, and other gross motor functions related to mobility and successful movement activities in an educational setting. Provides physical therapy training and consultations to school staff and families. Assists families, children, staff, and related services providers to use appropriate and safe methods to meet a child's mobility needs. Manages the educational equipment needs of students, including assessment, provision, instruction, monitoring, adjusting, and repairing. Assists families in acquiring equipment for home use. Uses and trains others in the use of adaptive equipment. Assists schools in developing emergency procedures and evacuation plans. Evaluates accessibility issues in schools, such as bathroom accessibility. Creates and maintains documentation of physical therapy services, including contact notes. Other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Frequent walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing; significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing. BENEFITS:
