Position Purpose All KHI employees are expected to perform their tasks in support of KHI’s vision to be among the kindest, highest quality health systems in the country. Works under the direction of the physician and the Arizona State Nurse Practice Act to provide nursing care to patients in compliance with nursing standards and regulations. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Demonstrates compassion, tact, flexibility, and teamwork; assists with orientation of new staff as requested.
Responsibilities
Quality of Care and Nursing Process
Provide evidence-based care to prevent Healthcare Acquired Conditions and reduce hospital readmissions.
Practice standard precautions during patient contact and handling of contaminated materials.
Assessment
Complete nursing assessments according to hospital and unit policies and standards.
Collect pertinent data from patient, families, and health care providers.
Perform comprehensive history and physical including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, age-specific, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
Diagnosis / Care Needs
Identify nursing diagnoses and care needs from assessment data.
Collaborate with patient and family to formulate an appropriate care plan.
Implementation
Deliver nursing care based on diagnoses, care needs, and patient care standards in coordination with other disciplines.
Evaluation
Evaluate patient progress and revise nursing diagnoses or care plans as needed.
Clinical Lead
Coordinate Nursing Personnel and patient care quality/satisfaction; ensure process compliance.
Qualifications
Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing or graduate of a Nursing Diploma program.
Certification/Licensure:
Current, valid Arizona RN license or compact state RN license
Current BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Unit Specific Requirements
Medical Surgical Units:
Basic EKG competency within 3 months of hire
Pediatrics:
PALS certification within 6 months of hire
ICU/Progressive Care Unit:
ACLS upon hire; Basic EKG within 30 days of hire
Women’s Services:
NRP within 6 months of hire/transfer
Emergency Department:
ACLS & PALS within 3 months; ESI training within 6 months; TNCC within 24 months
Hemodialysis:
ACLS; Basic ECG within 3 months
Cath Lab:
ACLS; ECG competency; minimum 2 years RN experience
Preferences
Education: Bachelor’s in Nursing
Experience: Experience in the respective clinical area
Work Requirements
Able to handle multiple priorities; strong communication and equipment skills
Able to assist with movement of patients up to 300 lbs and care for patients with infectious diseases
Ability to sit, stand, and walk as needed; color discrimination; able to reach and work at various levels
