Illinois State University seeks a strategic and innovative academic leader committed to the mission, vision, and values outlined in the University’s strategic plan. The dean is the chief academic and executive officer of the college, providing vision and leadership in the context of shared governance. The dean leads the development and implementation of the college’s strategic future and reports to the provost, who also serves as vice president for academic affairs. The dean’s responsibilities include developing an effective collegial environment that supports excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service and advancing the nursing profession. The dean facilitates collaborations within the college, university, and broader community, and provides leadership to advance equity, diversity, access, and belonging for students, faculty, and staff. The dean will engage faculty, staff, and students in developing a shared plan for the college’s future and its role in the University’s broader mission. Additional duties include leadership for promotion and tenure standards, supervision of associate and assistant deans and college staff, fiscal responsibility for the college, and advocacy to the provost, president, alumni, and external stakeholders. The Mennonite College of Nursing comprises approximately 23 tenure/tenure-track faculty, 22 non-tenure track faculty, 18 staff, and about 50 part-time faculty. Salary and Benefits

Salary range: $220,000 – $250,000 annually. University benefits include health, dental, vision, life insurance; retirement and supplemental retirement options; tuition waiver for staff and eligible dependents; paid holidays/administrative closures during Thanksgiving and Winter Breaks; and paid benefit time. Additional information on benefits is available through the University. Required Qualifications

Be registered as a nurse or be eligible for RN licensure in the State of Illinois. Hold at least one graduate degree in nursing and hold a terminal degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning. A record of outstanding scholarship and teaching, meriting appointment as Professor with tenure in the Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University. Full-time administrative leadership experience in dynamic academic organizations, with accomplishments in roles such as dean, associate dean, department chair, or school director, or comparable leadership. Experience aligning fiscal resources with strategic priorities and managing people and resources to support instruction, scholarship, nursing practice, and outreach. Fundamental understanding of the scholarly, teaching, and service responsibilities of a nursing faculty at an R2 university. Experience with the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education accreditation and knowledge of fundraising/donor stewardship. Ongoing participation in state/national nursing professional organizations. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with academic doctoral programs. Experience with curriculum development and/or online degree programs. Exceptional communication skills and ability to build relationships across stakeholder groups. Experience in professional mentorship and securing/existing extramural funding. Commitment to shared governance and ability to work with other deans, administrators, and stakeholders in developing goals and programs. Experience in developing and implementing a strategic plan; leadership/oversight of facilities resources.
