Pharmacy Technician III - Central Operations (Full-time Overnight Shift)
Northwestern Memorial Hospital seeks an experienced Pharmacy Technician III to manage the overnight operations of our central pharmacy services, supporting both inpatient and outpatient medication dispensing.
Salary The salary range for this position is $22.15 - $28.93 per hour, depending on experience and internal equity. For union positions, placement follows the collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities
Prepare medication orders for inpatients and outpatients.
Pick up orders and deliver medications to nursing units.
Schedule intravenous admixture solutions and report variances to a pharmacist.
Answer telephone calls according to hospital policy and screen for pharmacist or technician handling.
Enter new drug orders and renewal/refill information into the computerized patient medication profile.
Use the computer system to assist in all dispensing and inquiry functions.
Compare patient medication bins with pharmacy and nursing records and reconcile discrepancies.
Receive, prepare, and distribute floor stock requisitions and requisitions for other clinical locations.
Compounds dosage forms needed for dispensing to patients.
Assist in maintaining adequate inventory levels in the dispensing areas.
Package extemporaneous and STAT single doses of medications under pharmacist supervision.
Prepare and maintain emergency medication systems.
Prepare sterile products for administration to patients, selecting proper diluents and vehicles.
Prepare cytotoxic agents for administration employing hospital and department aseptic procedures.
Plan and perform the daily tasks required to provide department services under pharmacist direction.
Prepare and deliver narcotics and narcotic admixtures; conduct narcotic perpetual inventories as directed.
Meet quality and quantity requirements for new orders, unit doses, and IV admixtures.
Ensure compliance with hazardous waste collection and disposal procedures.
Assist in maintaining emergency carts, inventory, and controlled substances records.
Scheduling This position is regularly scheduled full‑time, 40 hours weekly, on the overnight shift (9 p.m.–7:30 a.m.). During training/orientation, the schedule may rotate between day and evening shifts (8 hrs/day, 5 days/week). Primary work locations are the Feinberg 9th floor and Prentice 10th floor pharmacies (cost center 1226), with possible rotation to other Northwestern Memorial Hospital pharmacies as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (IDFPR).
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through PTCB or ExCPT through NHA required for all those licensed after 2008; newly licensed Technicians have 2 years from license effective date to obtain certification.
Preferred:
Completion of a Technician Training Program.
Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
