RN Navigator - Lung Clinic - Full Time - Days at Nebraska Methodist Health System Location: Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center, 8303 Dodge Street, Omaha, NE Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm Job Summary

Accountable for delivering quality care to patients and families according to their individualized needs. Requires a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, with hospital experience preferred. Responsibilities

Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the patient, to ensure understanding and comfort with treatment as outlined in Population Specific Criteria. Identifies opportunities for and provides individualized customer service/patient care according to patient needs. Performs initial and ongoing assessments to determine patient needs and includes input from patient and significant other as appropriate. Develops, reviews, revises, and individualizes the plan of care to address nursing care needs for optimum outcomes; collaborates with providers and other clinical disciplines. Provides teaching to patients; ensures care plans reflect continuing care needs and referrals. Implements interventions consistent with the established plan of care; follows nursing protocols and standards of care; uses current knowledge and literature in practice. Performs technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety; learns new skills and equipment within area specifications and time frame. Maintains professional behavior and effective communication to support the organization’s mission; participates in meetings and committees as needed. Assists with risk management (e.g., reporting variances/incidents) and follows professional standards of practice and the Nurse Practice Act. Guides patients and families through informed decision-making by coordinating with a multi-disciplinary team; provides education about diagnosis and treatment options; navigates treatment and coordinates information and care with physicians and allied professionals. Teaches, plans, and participates in cancer treatment planning conferences; refers patients to appropriate support programs and community resources. Facilitates education and participation in clinical research trials as appropriate and assists with survivorship planning. Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required within 5 years of hire. Minimum of 2 years nursing experience; previous ambulatory coordination experience required. Current valid RN license; multi-state compact license or temporary permit as applicable. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred at time of hire; required within 3 months of hire. Certification in area of specialty preferred. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to multi-task, prioritize, and use computer systems effectively. Physical Requirements

Medium work; exerting up to 50 pounds of force. Occasional and frequent activities as listed: climbing, crawling, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, lifting, carrying, bending, keyboarding, repetitive motions, and other physical activities as necessary. Job Hazards

Not Related: Electrical shock/static; non-ionizing radiation concerns. Occasional hazards: physical hazards (noise, temperature, wet floors), equipment/machinery/tools, exposure to hazardous drugs with PPE.
