Perform complicated tasks on maintenance of plant machines including equipment installation, carpentry, pipefitting, or plumbing. Troubleshoot and repair existing potential problems. May have knowledge or certifications in two or more specific maintenance trades such as carpentry, or electrical. May inspect equipment for proper lubrication and perform other preventive maintenance duties. Essential Functions
Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools; reassemble equipment. Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines run smoothly and building systems operate efficiently. Perform and document routine calibrations on process equipment and instruments. Inspect drives, motors, and belts; check fluid levels; replace filters or perform other maintenance actions following checklists. Use hand and power tools and precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices. Assemble, install, or repair pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them; consult blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary. Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Apply welding and pipefitting skills. Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools. Abide by all Company and OSHA safety standards set for work areas. Respond to emergency calls in a timely manner. Abide by all FDA and applicable Quality standards. Don safety equipment and follow instructions for evacuating in case of fire or chemical emergency. Perform any other duties or responsibilities that the Maintenance Supervisor deems necessary. Education
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED). Experience
5+ years related experience preferred. Skills & Abilities
Computer Skills: Familiar with MS Excel, MS Word, basic word processing skills. Welding Experience: Skilled in MIG (GMAW) for high-speed production work and thinner metals; proficient in TIG (GTAW) for precise, high-quality welds on stainless steel, aluminum, and specialty alloys; experienced in Stick Welding (SMAW) for versatile applications in construction, maintenance, and repair. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly. Knowledgeable in welding machine setup and adjustments including amperage, voltage, gas flow, and wire speed. Skilled in cutting, grinding, and surface preparation to ensure clean and durable welds. Work Environment
Covered production area; temperature varies according to season; machinery shop exposed to dirt, dust, oil, noise; desk area with computer.
