The Patient Access Rep works as a member of a team assigned to perform front desk functions, client registration and the collection of information necessary to ensure reimbursement for services. Responsibilities include: Acts as a receptionist greeting all clients and visitors. Makes appointments and reminder calls for multiple providers. Maintains the front desk schedules and performs daily preparation activities. Collects necessary information, e.g. income verification, voter registration, current care registration, demo updates. Registers new clients; gathering necessary paperwork and electronically opening case at admission. Verifies benefits with insurance carriers and enters the information into CMHC. Obtains and monitors authorizations and reimbursement processes. Maintains specific client data electronically, e.g. current care # Records co-pay information and electronically enters cash receipt. Participates in the development of procedures to enhance current practices Processes reports for specific data. Performs light secretarial duties Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent. At least one-year experience in working with Third Party Payers and/or one-year support experience in a human service office environment. Must be comfortable working in a computer environment. Necessary Special Requirements: This position requires minimum physical exertion. There may be some light lifting involved in the day-to-day performance of the job. Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability: Must have good communication skills both verbal and written; including speech, grammar, spelling, and legibility are at sufficient level to ensure effective and appropriate communication Moderate mathematical skills in order to calculate figures and amounts; Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals either manually or by use of a calculator Demonstrated skill in use of spreadsheet and word processing software Ability to successfully complete all required training and certifications Maintain effective communication and professional relationships with all external contacts. Demonstrate ability to present ideas and information in a timely, concise, effective and interpersonal and appropriate manner through both written and oral forms Pay Range: $17.77 - $29.31 EEO Statement: Brown University Health is an Equal Opportunity employer.
