Open Pool - Wildlife Biologist - Florida
The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) at Colorado State University is hiring several Wildlife Biologist to support U.S. Air Force installations across Florida. These positions are part of an open pool, and applicants will be considered for one or more roles based on their qualifications, experience, and location preferences. Responsibilities include implementing and coordinating conservation and habitat management projects in support of Air Force and USFWS environmental stewardship goals. The Wildlife Biologist will lead efforts related to species monitoring and habitat restoration, with a focus on federally listed species specific to their assigned location. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology, ecology, natural resources, or a related field, and a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in wildlife biology or natural resource management. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in wildlife biology, ecology, or related field, and experience working with USFWS, on military installations, or with other federal land management agencies. The positions are six-month appointments with the potential for extension based on available funding and project needs. The salary range is $60,000-$74,000 per year. Position Details by Location
Hurlburt Field : Lead species and habitat management for red-cockaded woodpecker, reticulated flatwoods salamander, bog frogs, and listed bats. Avon Park Air Force Range : Conduct acoustic bat surveys and roost monitoring for endangered bat species. Tyndall Air Force Base : Monitor beach mice, Godfrey’s butterwort, Telephus spurge, shorebirds, and sea turtles.
